Greeter and Refreshment Volunteer Position
Join the Red Cross’s life-saving family by serving as volunteer staff at blood operations throughout the Greater Chesapeake and Potomac Region. If you enjoy working in a friendly environment, want to meet new friends, and make a difference in our community, this volunteer opportunity is for you!

Most operations last 4.5 or 5.5 hours and are scheduled at businesses, religious organizations, schools, and community sites during the weekday. Volunteer staff greet and thank donors, provide them with essential reading materials, and help care for donors after they have given blood.

Clerical Volunteer Position
Enjoy working in a friendly, social atmosphere by serving as volunteer clerical staff at the Greater Chesapeake and Potomac Region’s Baltimore headquarters. Provide general clerical support in a wide variety of areas, such as assisting in the assembly of mailings and special projects. Must be at least 14 years old, have transportation and weekday, daytime availability. Four hours per week is the requested commitment.

Driver
Help transport life-saving blood and materials from collection sites to Red Cross headquarters. Hours are flexible, day or evening. Days of the week are also flexible, Mondays-Saturdays. Must be at least 21 years old, have two years driving experience, and a valid Maryland driver's license. Six hours per week is the requested commitment.

Students
Earn your Service Learning Hours by volunteering for the Red Cross over the summer months. Training sessions for students are scheduled beginning in late May, through June. Students may also volunteer year-round at fixed donor sites in the late afternoon and early evening, and on Saturdays. Fixed sites are located in Baltimore, Bel Air, Columbia, Fairfax, Frederick, Gaithersburg, Glen Burnie, Rockville, Towson, Washington, D.C., and Whitemarsh. A commitment of six blood operations over the summer, or two operations every month year-round, is requested.

Holidays
There is a special need of volunteer staff at blood operations over the Holidays; if you have time and would like to give back to your community, please contact the Volunteer Office to learn how you can make a difference to patients in need.

Nurses
The Red Cross offers unique, numbered pins to RN’s, LPN’s, and Student nurses who have dedicated a specified number of volunteer hours to the Red Cross. Visit www.redcross.org to learn more about this highly regarded recognition program.
